Recently my professor gave us Windows 8 developer preview and I decided to install it on our 8 year old Compaq laptop. With only 256mb ram and P-4 it functions pretty well. Internet works just fine even with flash. Ubuntu was slow and so was XP on this PC, boots in about 30 seconds. Not too shabby.

well mainly because the wifi wouldn't work, so it had no internet unless I plugged directly into my router.

Yea, my laptop is mine but it's the only computer me/family has that I want to use... 2 others are slow, 10 year-old Windows XP comps, or my dad's Vista... and we all know that story, plus I can't use it anyway. =P

I'm not that surprised it would run W8. I had a ThinkPad T41 which ran Windows 7 like a charm and, if it would still in working condition, I bet it would run W8 as well.

well true, but I'm aware this is only a beta version and the real OS will have more background things going on and this PC nay not run the full version. If I had the money I would sure try it out anyways lol :)
